What is DI/SSI?

-DI is Social Security Disability Insurance or Title II benefits. Disability under Social Security is based on your inability to work. You will be considered disabled if you cannot do work you did before and SSA decides that you cannot adjust to other work because of your medical condition(s).

-SSI is Supplemental Security Income known as Title XVI benefits. The SSI program provides cash assistance to individuals who have limited income and resources and are either age 65 or older, or blind or disabled, including children. SSI is a "needs-based" program, while DI is based on previous participation in the Social Security system.
